The sub alpine climate and the altitude on the escarpment created a special environment with unique fauna and flora. From rugged cliffs with aloes and shrubs to open grassland plains and pine forest, this area has a diverse range of plants. During your walks you could spot a variety of animals and birds. Look out on the rocky cliffs for rock rabbits living in the cracks and holes. Small antelopes like Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbuck, Blesbuck and Oribi are regularly spotted in the area. At night Jackal, caracal, civit, aardvark and porcupine abound. 169 different bird species have been identified in the area and it is a birding paradise. Birds, from the resident breeding pair of Fish Eagles, to a wide variety of water birds can be expected to be seen during your visit.
